Kinetrol Dmper Dive Asembly with Positioner for Control
Problem: steel mill was having numerous problems with
bailey damper drives on balancing air control of exisiting dampers. Problems
were:
1.
Exisiting drives unreliable for control, a lot of slop and play -
(hysteresis).
2.
Dirty plant atmosphere would damage and foul internals of damper
drive.
3.
Numerous belts, drives and miscellaneous parts made maintenance and
repair a nightmare
Solution: Knetrol actuator mounted to fabricated stand
with same footprint as Biley damper drive.
New unit a hit !!!
1.
Direct mount positioner eliminates
linkage from positioner to actuator, direct mount gives tight control
from output shaft of positioner to shaft of damper itself. A true one to one
movement of damper with positioner.
2.
Sealed actuator and positioner a lot more tolerant of poor quality plant
air and harsh environment.
3.
One moving part in the actuator (vane) makes for long trouble free
life.
Current status:
customer replacing dampers one at a time during planned outages. This unit has a model 149
kinetrol actuator which has a torque output of 9,600 “ / # ‘s at 80# supply
air.
